Our biggest contract yet: full external clean at Blackburn College

This is the biggest contract JWF Window Cleaning has ever taken on. Our team spent three weeks on site at Blackburn College, cleaning six buildings across the campus — and we couldn't be happier with the results.

These buildings hadn't been cleaned externally for 15 years, so you can imagine the dirt that came off them. Glass, cladding, skylights and high-level glazing had all built up over a decade and a half of weathering, traffic film and grime — and seeing it restored to a clean finish, building by building, was hugely rewarding for the whole team.

What the job involved

A campus this size needs more than a window cleaner — it needs a team that can handle glass, cladding and hard surfaces at every height. Across the six buildings we carried out:

Working on a live college campus means planning around students and staff. The mix of high-reach equipment and rope access let us get to every elevation safely, while jet washing brought the hard surfaces and cladding back to life alongside the glass.

An ongoing maintenance schedule

This wasn't a one-off. Blackburn College will now receive external cleans every six weeks, scheduled during half term so the work never disrupts teaching. It's the right way to look after a campus — once the 15 years of build-up is gone, regular maintenance keeps it gone.
