Pressure washing
Pressure washing & driveway cleaning across Lancashire.
Driveway gone green? Patio slippery with algae? JWF pressure washes drives, patios, block paving and decking for homes and businesses across Lancashire, Greater Manchester, West Yorkshire and Cheshire. Same family firm that's cleaned windows here since 2011 — jet washing is just the loud half of the job.
Driveway & patio cleaning
Years of grime off in a single afternoon.
Hard surfaces don't stay clean on their own. Algae, moss, weeds, oil drips and black spot build up slowly until the drive's a different colour to the day it was laid — and a wet patio turns into a slip hazard. Pressure washing strips all of that back to the original surface, fast.
We don't just blast and go. We pre-treat where it's needed, work the surface evenly so you don't get tiger-striping, clear the debris off your borders, and re-sand block paving joints when the job calls for it. The difference is usually dramatic enough that the neighbours ask who did it.
Every clean includes
- Pre-treatment of heavy algae, moss and black spot
- Even, controlled wash — no stripes or surface damage
- Weeds cleared from joints and edges
- Debris and slurry rinsed away, not left on your borders
- Kiln-dried sand re-applied to block paving joints (on request)
- Fixed price agreed before we start — no surprises
What we jet wash
Surfaces we clean.
If it's hard and it's outside, we can probably bring it back. The pressure and technique change with the surface — what's right for concrete would chew up soft sandstone — so we tune the job to the material.
Driveways
Concrete, imprinted, resin, tarmac and block paving drives stripped of algae, moss and oil.
Patios
Indian stone, flags, porcelain and concrete slabs — back to grippy and clean for summer.
Block paving
Deep clean plus kiln-dried sand re-sanding to lock the blocks and slow the weeds.
Decking
Timber and composite decking cleaned at a lower pressure that won't furr or gouge the boards.
Paths & steps
Garden paths, alleys and steps — the slippery bits that catch people out in winter.
Commercial forecourts
Car parks, loading bays, entrances and yards — cleaned around your opening hours.
What is jet washing?
Pressure tuned to the surface, not maxed out.
Jet washing (or power washing — same thing) uses a high-pressure water jet to lift dirt, algae and grime off hard surfaces. The skill isn't in the pressure; it's in controlling it. Too much will pit concrete, blow the pointing out of paving, and shred timber decking. We run the right pressure and the right nozzle for each material, and use a flat-surface cleaner on large areas so the finish is even rather than striped.
The skill isn't the pressure. It's knowing how much each surface can take.

How much does pressure washing cost?
It comes down to the size of the area, the surface, and how bad it's got. We give a fixed price up front once we know the square meterage — a photo and rough dimensions are usually enough to quote a driveway. As a guide:
Guide prices only — your exact price is confirmed before any work starts. Booking pressure washing alongside a window round, gutters or fascias usually works out cheaper than separate visits.

FAQs
Pressure washing questions, answered.
How much does pressure washing cost?
For most homes, a small patio or path starts around £60, a standard driveway runs £100–£180, and block paving with re-sanding is £150–£250. Large areas and commercial forecourts are quoted on view. You always get a fixed price before any work starts — never an open-ended hourly rate.
How much does it cost to jet wash a driveway?
A typical single or double driveway is usually £100–£180 depending on the surface and how dirty it is. Send us a photo and rough dimensions and we can normally give you a fixed price without even visiting.
What is jet washing?
Jet washing (also called pressure or power washing) uses a high-pressure water jet to lift dirt, algae, moss and grime off hard surfaces like driveways, patios and decking. The key is matching the pressure and nozzle to the surface so it cleans thoroughly without damaging the material.
Will pressure washing damage my paving or decking?
Not when it's done properly. The risk comes from using too much pressure or the wrong nozzle — that's what pits concrete and furrs timber. We set the pressure to the surface and use a lower setting on softer materials like sandstone and decking, so you get a clean finish without the damage.
How often should I have my driveway cleaned?
Once a year keeps most driveways and patios on top of algae and moss, ideally in spring before summer or autumn before the wet sets in. Shaded, north-facing or tree-lined areas green up faster and may want doing more often.
Do you re-sand block paving after cleaning?
Yes. Pressure washing block paving removes the old jointing sand, so we re-apply kiln-dried sand afterwards to lock the blocks back in place and slow down weed regrowth. It's included on request as part of a block paving clean.
Do you cover my area?
We cover Burnley, Blackburn, Preston, Darwen, Rossendale, Skipton, Huddersfield, Macclesfield, Cheshire and across Greater Manchester. If you're nearby but not listed, send your postcode and we'll let you know.
